THE CAMPAIGN
#itaffectsme
selfie + post-it + donation + share = #itaffectsme
On the 12th January 2016, Laura Darrall asked her friends and family to take a selfie with a post-it note on their foreheads saying '#itaffectsme', to show the universality of mental health, to share it on social media and then donate to a mental health charity of their choice. Soon this simple campaign began to go viral...
The campaign reached 3.5million people around the world and was shortlisted for a Mind Media Award. Selfies were posted in America, Italy, Australia, Pakistan, Canada, Spain, the UK, New Zealand and many more countries. Holland even started their own thread called #hetraaktmijook!
People from all over the world have been in touch to say they are now speaking out, seeking help and that the campaign has given them hope.
